about
This is a cover of Cowboy Junkies' "Take Me" from their 1986 debut album "Whites Off Earth Now!!" This track was recorded for the San Antonio Current's 25th Anniversary Compilation CD of songs originally released in 1986, and covered by local San Antonio musicians.
My mom was the one who came up with the idea to cover CJ. My mom is cooler than your mom.
Major thanks to: John Dailey, for engineering, mixing, and performing the reverse cymbals on this track; Chuck Kerr for his diligence and inventiveness; and Jesse Basham for his terrific and artistic guitar and amp work.
And thanks, San Antonio Current, for including me!
Oh, and thanks, Cowboy Junkies, for being bad asses for the past 25 years and counting.
lyrics
Song written by Cowboy Junkies
Take me to the river
and we'll watch the water roll
Take me in your warmth
and you'll fill my empty soul
Come on and take me, take me, take me
Come on and take me, take me, take me
Take me to the ocean
where the water never run
Take me in your love
and I'll be your lifetime friend
Come on and take me, take me, take me
Come on and take me, take me, take me
Take me to the storm
where the thunder meets the light
Take me in your gentle arms
and I'll love you through the night
Come on and take me, take me, take me
Come on and take me, take me, take me
